Paul awoke in his bed at 6:30 in the morning, yawning and stretching out in bed. He lied about for a good ten minutes before actually getting out of said bed and going about his day. He looked into the mirror, his blue eyes examining his still half asleep face. He ran his hand through his short blonde hair and let out a small yawn. "Maybe I should get a hair cut..." he thought to himself before starting up the shower. As he awaited the water to get hot, various thoughts went through his head.
Showers were always a funny thing. Stand in water and put something on your body to smell nice. If no one ever showered the smell would never bother anyone. Saves time to. You'd never have to spend time worrying about what you smelled like, wouldn't spend money on body wash, shampoo, deodorant; the list goes on.

The water eventually reached a suitable temperature as Paul got into the shower. He began to shampoo his hair. This was one of his favorite parts of a shower. The Shampoo felt quite lovely on his hair. If he could help it he'd use it all over his body. Paul shook the thought out of his head as he began to use the body wash. He ensure everything was taken care of before putting on his conditioner. He did this to ensure nice, soft hair. It made making it every day softer and a tad more fun than normal. Once everything was said and done, Paul got out of the shower and dried off.

Paul went over to his wardrobe, slipping on a pair of somewhat loose jeans. He wrapped a belt around his waist to ensure it stayed up. He then slipped a plain blue long sleeve shirt over his torso while putting on a coat. The weather report had said it would be a chilly morning. He went back and began to mess around with his hair to get it the exact way he wanted it to be. After he finally reached that point, he grabbed his cologne and sprayed some under his arms. He gave one last look into the mirror, before giving a small smile and walking out of the house.

His daily path to and from school was generally the same. It was a simple straight pathway from his house to school. Paul was only 15 and a Sophomore in High School. He really disliked going there, and wished we could just run around with a worry in the world instead. Of course his parents made him continue even after his pleas to take independent studies. He lived with it and his usually route lead to him making a few acquaintances, by that just people he said "Hello" to.

There was one re-occurring character that had always got his eye. It was a small German Shepard Puppy. It couldn't be more than a year old in human years. This was a more recent development on his street. After doing this for over a year, the little pup had only popped up in his route a couple days ago. He'd see it on his way to and from school as well. Whenever he went out with his parents he'd still see the little German Shepard in the very same alleyway. There's no way it had a home. Paul began to assume it lived inside that alley.

The more Paul saw the people the more it stayed in his mind. Did it have any owners ever? Did it have a mother? Father? Brothers or Sisters? Did it have any kind of family? The questions bothered him greatly, and had a common appearance during his showers, or even when he was lying down trying to fall asleep. He began to feel great sympathy for the little dog. After a few nights of thinking about it Paul finally decided. He was going to take the dog in and raise it. It'd be hard to convince his parents to go with it, but Paul thought he had a pretty good plan to ensure he would be able to keep the little pup.

He would try and bring up the fact his parents are forcing him to school when he'd be able to do all the work from home and learn the same. He'd try and use it as a "trade off." Also he would be helping an animal in need. It didn't have a home after all. He'd be able to provide it with shelter, food, water, and most importantly; love. Paul always did have a soft spot for dogs after all.

Paul planned everything out. All he had to do was have the dog already to make it harder for his parents to say no. He would take his bike and have a bag tied to it so the puppy could ride in it. He didn't have a basket so the ride will be a bit uncomfortable, but he figured a few minutes of uncomfort would be worth it to have a real home. Afterwards he'd keep it until he worked up the courage to actually tell his parents. It seemed simple enough, and Paul crossed his fingers everything would work out.

The day arrived that Paul was going to put his plan in place. He made sure that his parents had both left for work and started gathering his gear. He went into the kitchen and found an old grocery bag with more inside of it. Paul took out one of the bigger bags so it could actually fit the little pup inside it somewhat comfortably. Afterwards he left the door unlocked while he unchained his bike from the front porch. Paul tied the bag to the handle and began biking down the street.

He pasted by the usual people he would. The man selling Newspapers, the woman caring for her porch garden, the trio of kids playing Jacks. It was kind of fun seeing the same people each weekend. Paul didn't stay distracted for long, just saying a simple "Hello" and leaving before they can ignite some kind of long discussion. The slower Paul was to reach the alley the more chances there was the German Shepard would have been taken by Animal Control or by someone else. He was determined to be the one to raise it.

Paul made his way to the usual alley, but the German Shepard was no where in sight. Paul didn't let this fact bug him. If he did live in this alley, perhaps he was just sleeping in whatever bed he had. He rode his bike around the alley corner and set his bike leaning against the wall. He began to make his way deeper until the alley. "Hello? Little puppy?" Paul calls out as he continues his trek.

He eyes every little nook and cranny of the alley, still no sign of the dog. Paul still manages to keep his hope up, however he eventually reaches the end of the alley. The little puppy was no where in sight. Paul gives a frown, and slumps down in the corner. Was he actually to late? Did Animal Control snatch the little German Shepard up? Did it end up in the pound? The questions all caused only more sadness for Paul and he buried his head in his lap.

After pouting for a while, Paul feels something touching his foot. His first instinct it to kick it away, but stopped himself quickly. He lifts his head and sees the little German Shepard at the base of his feet. Paul's face instantly lit up. He was just relieved that the little pup hadn't ended up in the pound. "I thought someone had gotten you!" Paul says with a small giggle, starting to pet the puppy's head. He very quickly began petting down his back and his head. He played with it for a while, and couldn't help but smile at the dog. He'd never seen it as happy as it was. Paul hoped he'd be able to keep a smile on the dog's face for much, much longer.

A good twenty minutes had past simply petting and playing with the dog without Paul realizing it. Only really "knowing" it for this time it felt like he was apart of his family. He couldn't wait to take him home and make him the family pet. Even though they barely interacted with each other that day, Paul knew that he and the little pup would be best friends. He got up. "Come little guy." Paul smiles as he begins to start walking back to his bike, the puppy following close behind.

Not even halfway back to his back Paul feels a strange heat starting to form all of his body. He was wearing a lot of layers sure, but he shouldn't be feeling as hot as he was. Paul tried to shrug it off, but was rather unfruitful in that effort. The head was to much as he tore off his coat and jacket quickly. He threw them across the alleyway and began panting. What caused this sudden heat wave for him?

To add onto his strange heat, he began to feel quite itchy. It started off with a small little pinch before quickly escalating into Paul unable to stop scratching. This made him stop in his tracks to repeatedly scratch away at all his body parts.  "What is with this itch?" Paul questioned before looking down at his arms and his eyes widened. He saw light brown hair growing rapidly, very quickly overcoming his arms. He ripped off his shirt quickly, revealing a front with the same color brown fur. Unbeknownst to him Paul's back was sporting black fur all down his back while different shades of brown surrounded it. "Wh-what's happening to me...?" Paul asked to himself.

The little puppy gave a few barks tilting his head. He was just as confused as Paul was by the looks of it. Meanwhile, Paul watched in horror as he notice his hands begin to alter. He witness his hands became more circular in nature. On the palms of his hands, they became black and padded, granting him with a permanent paw-print. Paul's nails became a but sharper as they turned into dull claws. "P-P-paws?" Paul questioned outloud, unable to process what was happening.

Paul's body was become smaller, his pants barely staying on him. While this was happening, he fell down onto all fours. His hind legs very quickly contorted to match his new front legs. His feet become padded paws with dull claws like them. To add onto the more painful side, his skeleton altered to give him digitigrade legs. With everything under his neck covered with brown and black fur, he managed to kick his way out of his old pants.

"RUFF's growing..." Paul stops, harder to speak legible words. "WRUFF! RUFF!" he begins to panic as his face pushes into a noticable muzzle. At the tip of it, his nose becomes larger, black, and wet. His jaw increases to match the muzzle's size. His teeth become a bit larger while his tongue increases in size. Unable to really control it, Paul begins to pant just like a dog would. His eyes turn brown and become smaller while brown fur grows all over his new larger head. Paul's ears become much larger and triangular, moving to the top of his head. Meanwhile his new muzzle turned a similar black as his nose.

Paul tries to say "Am I a dog?" to himself, but all that comes out are barks. However it quickly turns to whimper as he feels a strange mix of emotions and sensations. A long brown and black fur covered tail elongated from behind him, dropping onto the ground. The last major change hit him underneath at his belly. Paul's manhood leaves him, while his body makes the appropriate changes to make him into a very female dog. Adding onto this, Paul had become older, making her into a more adult dog.

"Momma!" Paul hears a young child-like voice calls to her, feeling a padding on her side. Paul's mind went blank for a moment. What did the voice mean? That's when it hit her. She turned her body the best she could to find the source, seeing the little German Shepard pup, "Momma! You're back!" he says happily. His former barks completely legible for Paul now. She was unsure exactly how to proceed. She could barely walk with this body.

"What are you...?" Paul stops hearing a very feminine voice coming from her. On top of this she was only barking, and yet forming completely sentences to her ears. "I was so lonely..." the little pup says sadly. "But you're back! We can be happy again!" the young puppy says rubbing his head against Paul's hindleg. Despite the oddity of it, Paul couldn't help but get a smile on her muzzle. Her suspicious about the dog not having a family were true. Even so how could she take care care of a dog? Let alone be one! Female to!

"And I won't ever leave you again." Paul says with a warm smile. Sure she was terribly afraid, but she couldn't hurt the little one's spirit. She had to stay strong for his sake. "Yay!" the dog cheers happily. "We can keep living here like the old days!"

Paul considered her options. Living in an alley the rest of her days? There's no sign of her ever able to turn back to normal, and she did want to keep the little pup safe. Her routine was obviously off the table, and she'd have to make some kind of new one. It'd be interesting to say the least as she saw all the people she used to notice a mother with the little German Shepard now. Plus they'd seem a lot taller then ever before.

However her thoughts become completely blank as she felt something sucking underneath her. This was oddly relaxing to Paul, and allowed it. The puppy was still rather young, not born too long ago. He had to eat after all. Paul lied down to allow easier access and awaited for the dog to be done.

Once it was, Paul's sense of self came back. She had a few choices to make. What to name herself, and what to name the pup. "Pam." she smiles to herself. She though the name was close to her current one. As for the little pup, she wanted something cute. "Jojo. You full?" she asks loving down to the pup.

"Yeah! It was good!" the puppy responded with content. Pam can't help but giggle at Jojo's excitement. Even if she couldn't turn back, at least she had a son who put a smile on her muzzle.

"What have you been doing since I've been gone?" Pam asks smiling, the words becoming more natural to her.

"I made a little house to live in! It's big enough for both of us! I knew you'd come back soon!" Jojo barks happily, his tail wagging with anticipation.

"Why don't you take me there Jojo?" Pam asks with a happy face on her.

"Try and keep up momma!" Jojo says running off ahead.

Meanwhile Pam, was having some trouble walking. She tried to only move with her hind legs, then front legs then hind legs. Everything seemed to fail. Eventually Pam figured it out and walk awkwardly. Eventually she began to walk move confidentially. Then she began to run. Eventually, Pam was running like she was a dog her whole life. It felt good. She felt free. She felt like she didn't have a care in the world. Except for little Jojo of course. Pam ran faster and faster to catch back up with Jojo, she couldn't leave him alone again. She was running like she had never stood on two legs before.

After hitting this point, Pam's rather large body made her steps rather large, and she was able to re-unite with Jojo, his much smaller and still somewhat newborn size made it so he was full of energy, but not as fast as a runner. Pam was able to slow down, now happily walking alongside Jojo. Eventually, the two arrived at a makeshift home, with blankets for walls and even a large bed inside. It was a bit surprising for Pam, the fact that a little puppy could do all of this. Although it bothered her to the point of asking.

"Did you do this all by yourself Jojo?" she asks in a motherly and soothing voice.

"Yeah!" Jojo exclaims, happily wagging his tail. "Cool huh!?"

"It's lovely Jojo." she smiles, licking her son's head as if to kiss his cheek. She knew that he had some kind of help, but she couldn't bring herself to bring his happiness down. She would let him have this one.

"What do you wanna do momma?" Jojo asks happily. "We could play all day now!"

Pam was going to make a comment saying they couldn't do that and realized something. They really didn't have to do much. The both of them had nothing they had to care for except each other. Then Pam gave a small giggle at her son. "Sure." she smiles, wagging her tail happily. "It;s been so long since we've played."

"Hooray!" Jojo barks happily. "Let's go!" he adds already pawing out of their "home." Pam follows shortly behind as they entered into an area behind it. This was like a make-shift backyard, decent size you'd expect from an alley but cut off from anyone else. The two dogs played for hours. Tackling and padding at each other until night fell. It was a bit of a culture shock for Pam at first. The hours just seemed to go by so much faster than before. Then again, she had Jojo. When he was with her she couldn't help but have fun.

Pam and Jojo both stayed in their "home" for a few weeks. That's when they were discovered by a young man in his twenties. Their first encounter wasn't the greatest when Pam saw him trying to hold Jojo. Her motherly instincts thinking he was putting little Jojo in danger. However the man quickly caught on, putting Jojo down and calming down Pam herself. He didn't just put Jojo down and leave though. He stayed and played with both of them. It was the first interaction they had with humans since they first "met." Both Jojo and Pam found a friend in the man. He would come back the next few days and keep the routine up. Everyday without fail he'd come at noon on the spot. Jojo and Pam both got into a habit of happily waiting for him to arrive.

However one day he didn't show up at the usual time. Pam and Jojo were keen on waiting, maybe he was just running late? Their hope was getting smaller and smaller as time passes, both of them resting on their bellies. Jojo leaned his head on Pam, both feeling sad that the man was no where to be found. Just as they were about to go back into their makeshift house, the man comes riding up in a car of some sort. He steps out and both Jojo and Pam bark happily, wagging their tails in excitement. The man goes over to the two of them, happily greeting them by petting the duo.

"Now then, why don't we get you to a real home?" he asks warmly, opening the backdoor of his car to signal for them to jump in. Pam and Jojo look at each other, before happily entering into the car. The man even got their old bed and put it in the trunk of his car. He entered into the car and rolled down the windows. Both Pam and Jojo stuck their heads out, panting happily as they felt the breeze brush up against their fur. They reach the man's home, the mailbox of it stating his name was "Ted Jones."

Ted opened the backdoor as Pam and Jojo leaped out of the backseat, running around the man's frontward happily, playing with each other. Ted smiles at this as he takes the bed out of his car and takes it inside up to his room. He runs back out and invites the two dogs into his home. Both Pam and Jojo run inside, the feeling of carpet was much more comfortable on their paws. Ted put out two bowls of dog food for Pam and Jojo, of which ate it happily. It felt like forever since they had food this good.

Of course their full bellies caused them to grow tired. Jojo and Pam were guided to Ted's room and shown to their bed. He shut the door for them to sleep peacefully, he still had stuff to get done. Pam crawls into the bed, Jojo leaning up against her as they always had. Jojo lets out a cute little yawn while Pam's was much stronger.

"I love you momma..." Jojo comments as his eyes close.

"I love you to Jojo." Pam says with motherly love in her voice, falling asleep herself. Life was good. She had someone to help take care of her and Jojo, and more importantly, she had Jojo herself. As long as he was with her, she'd be happy for the rest of her days.
My side of a trade w/ :iconlunarchristy: This quickly became one of my longest "One Off" stories. Over 3500 words included as opposed to my usual 1000-1500. I did have fun with though. Second story dealing with people becoming foster mothers within a month. Nothing there just a fun fact to point out.

ANYWAYS, this was a lot of fun to do, it's been a while since I've done a real buildup and aftermath of the TF.
