Literature Text

It's been months since the initial outbreak of the Pokerus virus. However, it wasn't any normal case of Pokerus, this version was on that humans could contract, and worse; it was lethal. Despite all of this, no case has proven lethal. This is because the virus alters the DNA of the human, turning them into a Pokemon themselves, thus allowing them to live through the infection. The infected are contagious for one week, and must remain outside of a Pokeball in order to heal. After the infection, the transformed human would resemble any other Pokemon, with no trace of being human. Of course, the new Pokemon would usually have their old mind in tact. Many remained with their families, ran off into the wild with their old Pokemon, or found a trainer and joined their team.

Of course this brought fear into many souls. Some would lock themselves away from society, while others would happily search for an infected Pokemon to transform themselves. There were two extremes to the spectrum as there were any situation. On top of this there were people who flat out abandoned their Pokemon, afraid of getting infected. This lead to both protests for and against these actions. One major group that was pro-abandonment was an organization called "Pokerus Prevention." They allowed the owners of Pokemon to drop off their Pokemon there, and they would keep everything off the record, to avoid the information harming the person's reputation.

However the whole place just seemed eerie. Something about it would cause a chill to go down one's spine. The lighting was dark, and you'd never see the faces of those who take the Pokemon from you. It was almost like a prison. There was a place separated by glass, with a place to say goodbyes to your Pokemon. With the kind of atmosphere it gave, myths and legends were bound to be made. The most popular one was that you'd enter and once you dropped a Pokemon off, the person would never be seen again. Some said that they were taken and locked away, and Pokerus Prevention was actually an anti-abandonment organization. Others said that they were simply escorted home without being noticed to protect their faces. Of course these were all stories but you never know...sometimes stories are true.

"Hello?" Steven asks hoping for an answer as he entered into the dark building. The lights above his head flickered, causing the dimly-lit room to be all the more unnerving. Steven looked around trying to see anything living, or sign of life; failing to do so. "Is anyone here?" he asks proceeding cautiously. Suddenly, a voice calls out to him.

"Are you here to drop off a Pokemon?" an ominous voice calls out to him.

"Uh...yeah..." Steven says nervously. "A good friend of mine was infected...I don't want that to happen to anyone else I know."

"So you wish to leave your Pokemon behind to save yourself and your feelings." the voice replies.

"I...I suppose so." Steven replies uneasily. "Can I just leave them here now? This place is scary..."

"Of course. Go into that room and release your Pokemon in the chamber next to it." the voice commands.

Steven nods his head with his body shaking, going to a strange large room. He sees a slot that allows the release of one's Pokemon. Oddly enough this was well-lit in comparison to the rest of the building. He nervously grabbed the Pokeballs from his bag, releasing a Houndoom, Delibird, and Nidoking into the room. The trio looked around confused, before stopping to look at Steven. He gives a sympathetic look at them.

"I'm sorry...you know the outbreak." he tells them nervously. "It's just...you know what happened to Mike..." The Pokemon gives Steven blank stares of sadness. "This wasn't easy for me!" he yells. "I loved you like family and I have to leave you! This is painful for me!" The trio of Pokemon only get a sad expression on their face. Steven lets out a defeated sigh. "I'm sorry..." he says turning to the door. Suddenly, a metallic door slams shut. "What the...?" Steven says examining the door. He tries to push, pull, do anything to get it open. "Hello?" he shouts hoping someone can hear. The Pokemon watch in interest as to see what was happening in the neighboring room. Suddenly, a strange smoke starts to fill the room. Steven turns back and sees this, causing his eyes to widen in panic. "Hey! Anyone? Help!" Steven says pounding the door with his fist in vain. The smoke fills the room completely, leaving the trio of Pokemon Steven meant to abandon to their imagination as to what was happening.

Inside the smoke, Steven's body was changing, namely inside of him. His DNA was altering. It wasn't any ordinary smoke, but it was Pokerus filling the room! The heavy amounts of the virus caused the transformation to take place almost instantly once it filled the chamber up. Steven's body began to alter, as light blue scales begin to replace his skin on his arms, legs, and parts of his head and torso. His finger became much shorter and lose two digits, his nails turning into three white claws. His arms become longer and much stronger. About half way down his body, Steven's lower body grew cream colored scales. Two cream chest plates formed and resembled breasts. At Steven's crotch, a certain something left, changing his gender; albeit through the smoke he, or rather, she had no idea what was happening, other than she was transforming. Her legs became much shorter and more powerful, her body growing to give her a much taller look despite this. Her feet altered greatly as they grew much larger, losing 3 digits leaving but two behind. Her toenails turned into sharp claws. Steven's lower jaw became larger while becoming creamed colored like her breasts and lower body. Her nose shrank into a mere two slits as her face pushed out into a snout. Steven's eyes moved to either side of her head while her ears became much larger. A horn formed at the top of her head while spikes went down her body. Lastly, a large spiked tail forms at Steven's backside, dragging on the ground somewhat.

The smoke clears up and Steven gets a look of his reflection in the glass separating the rooms. The image staring back at Steven terrifies her. A Nidoqueen, breathing as she breathes. Steven moves her body, seeing the reflection mimic it. The Pokemon in the other room stare in awe, especially Steven's old Nidoking, quite liking Steven's new form. "Ni-nido?" Steven let out in a whimper, holding back tears. Suddenly, a secret door opened and let a bright light into the room, blinding everyone inside. Steven felt something hit him before everything went dark. The light cleared up, a spotlight going on a Pokeball. The trio of Pokemon simply watched as the ball shook three times, before locking. They saw a hooded figure enter the room, picking up the ball now holding Steven. "Your master, planning to abandon you here is now one of you. I'll leave you three with him to discuss this as you will." the ominous voice instructed. Suddenly, three Pokeballs fired at the Steven's all Pokemon, all of them being captured. Three new hooded figures entered into the room and picked them up. The one holding the new Nidoqueen walked over to the slot from before, dropping the whole ball in.

"Take them to the basement. This man...or woman rather can discuss her mistreatment with her old Pokemon there." the man instructs. One of the hooded figures on the other side pick of Steven's ball and leaves with the others down to the basement. The man hears someone else enter into the door of the building. "And we have another one..."

End of Part 1

Next

A new series set in the Pokerus Universe! This was originally going to be just one whole story, but it was getting much longer than I expected, and this is just the prologue! The way the story is going to be told is very Supernatural/Doctor-esc in nature. This is kind of that Pre-Title card scene if you've seen either of those shows. The full story develops next installment!
